Mission Statement
The mission of the library media program is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information. The mission is accomplished:
- By providing intellectual and physical access to materials in all formats.
- By providing instruction to foster competence and stimulate interest in reading, viewing, and using information and ideas.
- By working with other educators to design learning strategies to meet the needs of individual students.
Services
•Topeka High School's Media Center is open 7am to 3:30pm, Monday thru Friday.
•The Media Center staff promotes pleasure reading.
•The Media Center staff teaches techniques that ensure quick, thorough, and complete Internet searches.
•Students may access email accounts before and after school and during lunch if the computers are not needed for research.
•Books are available for check out with a 3-week limitation.
Materials
•Print materials including magazines, newspapers, fiction and reference books are available.
•Computers for on-line research, word processing, and database searching are available.
•The Media Center has a selection of audio books and DVDs.
•There is an extensive collection of educational videotapes available to supplement the classroom curriculum.
